When his best friend is killed in front of him inside the New York Stock Exchange, Jack promises his friend's wife that he will find the killer。 His search leads him to question whether he really knew his friend at all。 Plenty of action。 When his best friend is killed in front of him inside the New York Stock Exchange, Jack promises his friend's wife that he will find the killer。 His search leads him to question whether he really knew his friend at all。 Plenty of action。 。。。more

Wow, a book you can't put down。 A roller coaster of a book, best one I read in a long time。 This one is the best book by James Patterson I read so far。 So I will keep reading them。 This one does not involve the Jack Ryan character。 Wow, a book you can't put down。 A roller coaster of a book, best one I read in a long time。 This one is the best book by James Patterson I read so far。 So I will keep reading them。 This one does not involve the Jack Ryan character。 。。。more

I have to admit I had a little trouble getting into this book。 Maybe it was because I was working on my own book at the same time but I found it had a slow start。 However, somewhere around the middle, the pace picked up and I raced through the pages to the end。 The action sequences are excellent and Jack Morgan is an interesting enough character that I will try more of the "Private" series。 I'm sure James Patterson fans would enjoy Private Moscow。 I have to admit I had a little trouble getting into this book。 Maybe it was because I was working on my own book at the same time but I found it had a slow start。 However, somewhere around the middle, the pace picked up and I raced through the pages to the end。 The action sequences are excellent and Jack Morgan is an interesting enough character that I will try more of the "Private" series。 I'm sure James Patterson fans would enjoy Private Moscow。 。。。more

The Private series of books are excellent reads。 Jack Morgan and his team of experts always bring drama , intrigue and twists as the plot is woven。 This tale, set in Russia, is particularly timely, given current global events。 Looking forward to Jack and his team in their next location butting heads with the baddies。

Best Private to date。

This is the first Patterson novel I read in the PRIVATE series。 It is a good thriller, but not as good as Patterson's ALEX CROSS books, or even the standalone (non-series) novel The President is Missing。 However, I do look forward to reading more books in the PRIVATE series。 This is the first Patterson novel I read in the PRIVATE series。 It is a good thriller, but not as good as Patterson's ALEX CROSS books, or even the standalone (non-series) novel The President is Missing。 However, I do look forward to reading more books in the PRIVATE series。 。。。more

Oddly I had to order this and the next Private book from the UK。 For whatever reason I couldn't get it on my kindle or find it domestically on Amazon。 But like with all the Private books, they're wonderful action brain candy。 A fun romp for Jack Morgan in Russia for this one, and I'll look forward to the next! The teasing content circle on the cover of this book reads, "An unmissable, breakneck ride into Moscow's dark underworld"。 I often think these statements are over-the-top marketing driven hyperbole but, in this case, the marketing folks are right on the money。 Wow! What a ride this was。 Do yourself a favor and dive into this one。 Enjoy! Another novel which makes me fall in love with the Private series even more。 It was full of twists and turns, always going in an unpredictable direction。 There was the introduction of several new characters into the series and I hope to see more of these new characters in future books。 The plot thickened over the chapters and turned into one of the biggest cases Private had ever been involved with, and of course, no Private story is complete without protagonist Jack Morgan running into trouble w Another novel which makes me fall in love with the Private series even more。 It was full of twists and turns, always going in an unpredictable direction。 There was the introduction of several new characters into the series and I hope to see more of these new characters in future books。 The plot thickened over the chapters and turned into one of the biggest cases Private had ever been involved with, and of course, no Private story is complete without protagonist Jack Morgan running into trouble with police, politics and dancing with the devil。 It will be interesting to see where his on-off relationship with second in command Justine Smith ends up in the following additions to the series。 I would highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the next instalment。 。。。more

How my attitude has changed towards James Patterson since my abysmal first experience reading him。 When I read one of his standalone thrillers (which was actually more of a smutty mystery), You've Been Warned, in 2013, I could not have hated him more。 The book remained officially the worst book I had read all the way until I found something even worse by another subpar writer in 2019。 During those six years, I had actually slightly warmed towards Patterson after reading his much。 much better Alo How my attitude has changed towards James Patterson since my abysmal first experience reading him。 When I read one of his standalone thrillers (which was actually more of a smutty mystery), You've Been Warned, in 2013, I could not have hated him more。 The book remained officially the worst book I had read all the way until I found something even worse by another subpar writer in 2019。 During those six years, I had actually slightly warmed towards Patterson after reading his much。 much better Along Came a Spider, which proved that Patterson was capable of writing a spellbinding page-turner。 Following that, up until the present, I have only occasionally checked into his books, reading Private India (which was below average), I, Michael Bennett (which wasn't bad), and his collaboration with former President Bill Clinton, The President is Missing (which was also decent enough)。 However, apart from Along Came a Spider (which is widely considered to be his best book), I had not come across anything else that approached four stars。 But then Private Moscow comes along。 I was at the local library and I decided I felt like a random fiction novel, and eventually settled on the vast array of Patterson books (probably usually borrowed by old men, interchangeably with David Baldacci, Lee Child and Lynda le Plante)。 I did not expect the book I finally chose to suck, but I certainly did not expect it to be as engaging and enjoyable as it was。 Private Moscow is a pure, no-nonsense thrill-ride that drops any pretensions of being serious literature for the ages, and instead just focusses on delivering an absolutely compelling thriller that, despite my sometimes snobbish leanings, I must just have been in the mood for。 I loved it: the action sequences are flawlessly written, fast-paced without losing their impact; the twists and turns are handled expertly, even if they're not always that hard to predict; the characters (with the exception of protagonist Jack Morgan, who is atrociously generic) are colourful and easy to like - especially the Russian detectives, Dinara and Leonid, and the put-upon Moscow cop, Anna Bolshova。 I would not say this is quite as good as Along Came a Spider all things considered, but it's a better-written story, and it certainly comes close to reaching those heights。 Indeed, while there is a lot about James Patterson and his McAuthor approach to writing that I disagree with (and, as always, one cannot even be certain how much of this book was actually written by him in comparison with Adam Hamdy), but when the story is genuinely good, then it's hard to really care too much about all that。 In my opinion, this was a very solid output from Patterson and Co。 。。。more

Ty Patterson has another smash hit on his hands with Moscow。 Tightly integrating current events with the Russian invasion of Moscow, Zeb and crew embark on a critical rescue mission with the potential to alter how the rest of the world perceives what's about to happen。 This action-packed thriller meets the very definition of unputdownable and will keep you up all night。 If you're a fan of Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, Brad Taylor, Ben Coes, Stephen Hunter, and the rest, you will want to get this book! An intense thriller that twists and turns with the best of them, Private Moscow is fast-paced and intriguing from its opening pages。 Jack Morgan loses a friend and gains an enemy in a single moment that catapults him into a dark and dangerous conspiracy。 This was an exhilarating read, delving into two of the biggest world superpowers and the lengths that they will go to to come out on top。

Up to the usual page turner quality of James Patterson --- has a particular resonance at this time。A really good read

Very disappointed。 Completely unbelievable and needlessly so

This tale had a different feel than most of Patterson’s stories so again I have to believe that Hamdy wrote most of it。 Story was interesting and had plenty of action and surprises so highly recommended and of course free from the local public library
